I got Sweetie's Pics back!

Well I have managed to get back all the pictures I had of Rebecca from when she was born till now! :-) It turns out I had backed up a picture program called Picasa about 2 months ago, I didn't know what I even all had on those disks but when I checked last night, I found that it contained all of Rebecca's pictures - including those video clips with my mom and dad that I thought were gone forever. So I'm very happy about that. Still missing, however, are some of the pics that were taken since our wedding - like our honeymoon, trip to Dominican Republic winter 2004, stuff from around Yellowknife from middle of 2003 to March 2005. But, if I don't get those ones back, it won't be as big of a deal. I have most of our Dominican Republic pictures printed out, and what all the rest of them are, I don't even really know as they are not as important to me. What mattered the most to me were pictures of Rebecca, and all those I now have back - Yipee!!

A lesson learned the hard way...

I did something really stupid 2 days ago. In an attempt to free up some hard disk space, I accidentally deleted all the pictures from my computer! Yup, all of 'em. I managed to get some of them back from the recycle bin, but it was 6 GB worth of pictures and they did not all go into the recycle bin, once it's full they bypass it, from what I understand. So a guy from Calvin's v-ball team came over last night with a program to recover deleted files from the hard drive. So far I've managed to get my wedding pictures back and pics of Rebecca from when she was just born, also all the pics I took so far this year are retrieved. But, I'm still missing many pictures that I took from June - Dec 2005. Now, some of you may be wondering, if had not backed up these pictures onto a CD? Well, I had burned some of the pics, but not nearly all of them and always thought I'd get around to it some day. Well, looks like I won't get all my pictures back now. Also, little video clips I had taken of Rebecca with her Oma and Opa (my parents) I can not seem to get back - I can see the file but it won't open. I am so frustrated! More at myself, than anything, for being so dumb to not have backed everything up. So for any of you reading this who have lots of valuable pictures on your computer, please be smarter than me and back up your picture files, before it's too late!!

Yummy Fish and a big screw

So Lisa came over last night to watch Sweetie G, while Calvin and I went out to Bullock's for dinner. It's been almost 2 years since we've been there, and I had always wanted to go back again sometime. While driving there, Calvin drove over some sort of a screw or bolt, it is now stuck in our tire...thankfully though, we did not get a flat, but he has to take the tire in to get the bolt taken out and the tire patched up. But the fish was very yummy!! I'd go there more often if it wasn't so expensive! Thanks again, Lisa, for watching our little Sweetie for us.
UPDATE: Calvin got the tire patched up and the screw taken out, look at how big it was!

Sweetie's smiles!

So here are some pictures of our little Rebecca smiling!! Rebecca's first smile was when she was 7 1/2 months old, and usually it happens so fast you don't have a chance to snap a picture. Then it doesn't happen again for hours, sometimes days. Lately though, we've been able to snap a few pics of her smiling, so I'd thought I'd share. She usually smiles when you pick her up after she's been hanging out by herself for awhile. It's a nice feeling to know she likes being picked up by mommy and daddy. She also sometimes smiles when you go right up close to her and talk to her after she's been alone for awhile. :-)

More of Cuba...

So here are a few more pics. Every time I try to write the description of the picture right beside it, after I publish it all the writing is bunched up beside one picture instead of beside each one individually, what is up with that?? So I'll just say that in the second picture, we're having dinner with the Deutscher's, our friends from Yellowknife whom we went to Cuba with. Next is Jill, Christina, and me, we all trained in Medical Radiological Technology together from '97 - '99. Next is Philip, Christina, Markus and us, my x-ray friend and her family. It was so fun to have a little reunion with these friends in Cuba! Lastly is Calvin and Becky at the airport, waiting to fly back home - that's our plane in the background.

Our trip to Cuba

I thought I'd post some pictures of our trip to Cuba January 16-23, 2006. We had fun spending time with our friends and enjoying the sunshine. We could have done with a bit less wind (it's a red flag day again?!), but there are no guarantees of perfect weather when you go on a holiday, right?

Going on a catamaran ride - be prepared to get very wet!
